Kiwi spotting on Rakiura Stewart Island
Stewart Island lies 30kms off the south coast of the South Island. Rakiura National Park covers 85% of this 200,000 hectare island. A short flight or ferry ride across Foveaux Strait will take you back in time to see some of New Zealand’s healthiest sea life and native bird populations. This is one of the best locations in Aotearoa to see a kiwi in the wild. We have close ties with the locals and operators on Rakiura, so can help craft or host your perfect trip.

Delve into Glowworm caves
The Clifden Glowworm caves are a short drive away from the S² Farmstay and offer a great opportunity for people to explore the stalactites and rare ecology of this cave system as an unguided experience that is totally free.
Guided cave tours can also be booked for the Te Anau Glowworm caves, which are located on the western side of Lake Te Anau and can only be accessed via a boat ride across the lake.

Explore the Fiordland Sounds
Milford Sound boasts breathtaking vistas that attracts high tourist numbers. A trip to Milford Sound can be a simple DIY day trip via vehicle or built into a multi-day trip including guided day hikes, sea kayaking or cruises. Milford is also a good base for several heli-fishing locations.
Doubtful Sound is a little harder to access than Milford, requiring a boat ride and bus ride out of Manapouri or a helicopter flight. Doubtful is less crowded and commercialised than Milford.
